ABOUT

At just 19 years old, Karen Hornsby's life changed in an instant. Her car collided with a semi-truck and trailer, erupting into flames. For ten terrifying minutes, she was trapped inside, surrounded by smoke and fire, while desperate attempts were made to rescue her. Then, a miracle happened. An off-duty officer, who had tried seven times to open the door, was suddenly given the strength to bend the metal in half—just enough to pull her to safety. Moments later, as the officer carried her away, the fire reached the gas tank and battery, igniting an explosion that sent the car into the air. And yet, despite the horror, she walked away. Her hand was crushed, but not a single hair on her head was singed. Miraculously, her Bible and prayer cloth—though found among the wreckage—remained untouched by the flames.

Years later, in 2005, tragedy struck again. Her husband was diagnosed with cancer. That same year, their perfectly healthy two-year-old daughter suddenly lost her sight and was diagnosed with brain cancer. She endured an unimaginable amount of pain and loss as she fought to survive—undergoing five rounds of chemotherapy, Proton Beam radiation, two major brain surgeries, and five strokes. The last stroke ultimately took her life.

Long before Karen was born, her uncle told her mother of a dream he had—a vision of a little girl who would one day sing like a bird. He never could have known that the songs she would sing would come from such deep suffering. She remembers standing on a stage after hearing the worst doctor’s report of her life. Through tears, she sang:

"Please relieve all this hurt inside. Perform a miracle in my life. I need You, Lord!"

As she opened her eyes, she saw people in the crowd—hands lifted, voices singing, tears flowing. Her song had given them a way to express the pain they had carried inside. In that moment, she understood—her sorrow had become a vessel for healing. Through every heartbreak, she has also seen victories, triumphs, and miracles. And now, she knows her purpose: to take these experiences, transform them into songs, and share them with the world. As long as God grants this bird breath to sing, she will declare:                      "It’s almost morning!"
